「“Late night snack choices, it's up to you to decide.”」

In the process of compiling, we realized there are just too many late-night snack spots in Taichung. So, we've decided to split the introduction into two parts. Now, let us introduce the must-try late-night snack spots according to us, college students who have been living in Taichung for nearly four years!

First up is Gekiuma Yakitori (East Sea Branch), a great choice for barbecue lovers. Located in the East Sea Villas, it’s a must-try late-night spot for East Sea University students. Not only do they offer complimentary chicken soup, which you can enjoy during late-night hours to warm up, but the quality of the soup is excellent and attracts many visitors. The restaurant’s interior is comfortable, making it a perfect place for friends to gather, have a drink, and unwind. In addition to the East Sea location, there are also branches in Fengjia and on Meicun Road.

Remember: Don't drink and drive, and don’t drive if you’ve been drinking.

The second barbecue spot located in East Sea Villas is Qiao Shi Ji, which offers a clean environment and affordable prices, making it an ideal place for dining, chatting, and having a few drinks. Their skewers come with a slightly sweet sauce, perfect for those who enjoy a touch of sweetness. They also offer a variety of beers and non-alcoholic beverages, allowing you to enjoy delicious barbecue while savoring a great value dining experience.

When it comes to egg pancakes and soy milk, International Soy Milk is definitely a must-visit! Located on Art Street in Xitun District, you might still be out of luck even if you arrive according to Google’s listed hours.

Aside from egg pancakes, they also offer classic breakfast items like shaobing (sesame flatbread), youtiao (fried dough sticks), and meat buns. The best part is that you can fill up with just a few coins, as the prices are very affordable. The real value comes from their unlimited refills of soy milk for dine-in customers, allowing you to drink to your heart's content. Many friends come here after playing sports, making International Soy Milk a true lifesaver at the end of the month!

早到晚到-

This student-centered restaurant is also a must-try late-night spot for college students. It offers budget-friendly options with a focus on instant noodles, small fried snacks, light meals, and specialty drinks. The spacious interior makes it an ideal place for a team to gather after a game or for friends to hang out without spending too much. Highly recommended items include their stir-fried instant noodles, hot pot-style noodles, and the must-try small meatballs. Additionally, their strawberry drinks are quite unique and definitely worth a try!

Luffy’s Braised Delicacies

This braised delicacies restaurant is famous for its "2-eat" concept, emphasizing both health and affordability. In addition to their delicious braised items, you can enjoy a variety of flavorful broths, including classic Chinese medicinal, Japanese bonito, satay, and Sichuan spicy. Pair it with their must-try spicy duck blood, and you’ll find it’s a taste that’s hard to forget after just one visit!

Yeya Izakaya

Yeya Izakaya is an affordable Japanese-style pub that offers a cozy dining experience with dim lighting and warm wooden decor, creating a genuine Japanese atmosphere. Besides classic barbecue, their grilled meat rice bowls and mentaiko white sauce udon are also highly popular, offering unique flavors at reasonable prices. The high value for money makes it a favorite among local office workers and students, ensuring a vibrant and enjoyable dining experience every visit.

Next up is the well-known brand, Diao Min Sauerkraut Fish. Here’s what makes it special:

Diao Min Sauerkraut Fish is renowned for its generous portions, often described as being larger than a basin, making it an excellent choice for gatherings with 3 to 5 friends. Their signature “Secret Pot Sauerkraut Fish” combines the spiciness of kimchi with the tanginess of sauerkraut, perfectly balanced with a touch of sweetness to create its unique flavor profile. Served with rice, it’s a dish that will have you going back for more with each bite.

For those who prefer less heat, the “First Love Tomato Fish” is a great option. This dish features a broth made from pork bone stock, simmered with fresh beef tomatoes, onions, and celery, creating a rich and savory soup that's both comforting and flavorful.

Finally, we have the late-night favorite known to all—Wannan Sashimi. If you’re a fan of sashimi, this is a place you definitely shouldn’t miss. Located on Huanzhong Road in Nantun District, this spot is famous for its fresh sashimi slices, each priced at just 10 NT dollars.

As college students, we often head over in the middle of the night to queue up with friends. Recently, we’ve been lucky enough to catch them during their extended hours, so the wait was only about 10 minutes. However, on weekends or after 11 PM, you might end up waiting for over an hour. Additionally, the nearby Fisherman’s Wharf Market is a popular attraction, so you can enjoy your sashimi while browsing the market!
